Today I read a news about Microsoft finally offers different browsers for Europe customers and include in their Windows OS. “開放視窗 歐洲用戶自選瀏覽器微軟 IE壟斷首被打破 微軟壟斷互聯網瀏覽器市場的時代,終於告終。前日(周一) 3月 1日起,微軟首次向歐洲 1億名視窗及 Internet Explorer( IE)用戶,提供其他瀏覽器的選擇頁面,讓用戶自行下載喜歡的瀏覽器使用。 微軟自 1996年起,將視窗作業系統跟 IE瀏覽器綑綁式銷售,讓 IE在瀏覽器市場佔盡優勢,長期壟斷全球 3/4或以上的市場。但綑綁式銷售一直被業界詬病以不公平手段壟斷市場,去年 1月歐盟正式控告微軟壟斷,至去年 12月雙方達成協議,歐盟撤銷訴訟,微軟毋須繳付 17億歐元( 179億港元)罰款,條件是微軟不再綑綁式銷售 IE,開放市場給其他競爭對手,但協議只適用於歐洲。” I have used the following before: - Netscape (which is long time ago) - Internet...
